Product Management Associate

VolunteerMatch is seeking an experienced Product Management Associate to help lead development of its key online services. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical design and documentation; possess strong web analytics skills and the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment. A strong candidate will have prior experience in online services. This role will support the development, implementation and marketing of new products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Translate business and market requirements into user-centered designs
- Develop site maps, process flows, wireframes, and functional specifications based on a synthesis of user needs, technical restrictions and business and market requirements
- Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with Engineering, Web Design, Product and Project Management
- Conduct user tests to verify designs
- Assist in market research and analysis
- Lead development in minor product improvement releases
Qualifications/Requirements:

- 1-2+ years of product development and design experience
- Very comfortable using web analytics tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Accounting Manager
This position is based in San Francisco, CA.

Web-based national company with a $4 million operating budget seeks an accounting professional to manage all the accounting needs of the organization. Reporting to the COO, the Accounting Manager will have responsibility for the daily accounting operations of the organization and key agency functions. Responsibilities include hands-on full-cycle accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, cash management, general ledger, payroll), internal controls, reporting functions, and directing the annual audit. This position requires a versatile person who can both work independently on tasks from bookkeeping to financial analysis, and can work collaboratively with senior staff to ensure compliance with fiscal policies and procedures. This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious accountant looking to take ownership of all the accounting needs of an organization, while growing their finance skill set. The right individual will be eager to participate in budget creation, project feasibility analysis, and financial diversification strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting and bookkeeping requirements for entire organization including: general ledger account reconciliation, journal entries, production of financial statements, maintenance of fixed asset accounts, grant management and programmatic accounts, and other responsibilities as required.
- Ensure proper working of company's financial procedures by employees regarding sales invoices, purchase invoices including maintaining deferred revenue schedule from customer receipts
- Lead annual budget preparation process, conduct interviews and develop draft budget
- Lead annual audit preparation including production of all schedules
- Prepare 1099's and assist Tax Firm with the preparation and review of the 990
- Manage payroll and salary related items (taxes, 401k, health benefits, PTO)
- Prepare and deliver financial reports as requested by COO, President and Board of Directors
- Provide COO with weekly updates and analysis of AR and AP and produce monthly budgets and forecasts from P&L
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness and possibilities of integrating work procedures in daily routines, recommend improvements and monitor changes.
- Manage personnel files, offer information, benefit allocations and other employee documentation
- Provide support and leadership around certain human resource related issues
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least four years of Accounting experience (two of which in a nonprofit organization), Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience with accounting systems (Peachtree preferred) and strong excel proficiency
- Extremely structured and highly organized with strong problem solving skills
- Numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Hands on mentality; independent and pro-active
- Excellent written and verbal communications

Applications Engineer
This position is based in San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop application-specific web features and interfaces in consultation with senior-level engineers. Specific responsibilities include:
- Writing code in Java
- Writing interfaces in HTML
- Writing SQL queries to retrieve and update data
- Using and maintaining a Linux desktop environment for desktop work
- Interacting in a professional and timely manner with internal clients
- Developing interfaces with best-practices for web-advertising
- Bringing a desire to use the Internet to promote volunteering social change
Salary:
$66,810 per year; full-time
Professional Exp.:
One (1) year of experience in the job offered.
Special Skills:
Professional and/or academic experience must include: Java; application and supporting programs in Java; writing SQL DDL and DML queries; basic data normalization issues and query efficiency; Linux/Unix, including command line and normally available programs; knowledge of software engineering principles including design patterns and unit testing; ability to understand xml schemas and different parsing mechanisms; and web advertising best practices.
Education:
Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
